Srinagar, December 28 (KNO) : Paying tributes to the slain militant killed in Awantipora encounter Ishfaq Hussain Wani, Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani said that everyday put youth are sacrificing their precious lives for the sacred cause of freedom from Indian clutches, making all of us duty bound to safeguard these sacrifices with utmost commitment and dedication to pursue this cause.
Geelani as per a statement issued to KNO said, “We should be united in pursuing our common goal to end the age old slavery by India.” Cautioning people against the multi-faced ‘hypocrites and fresh entrants of the brigade of stooges’, Geelani said that “these are the main culprits responsible for the bloodshed and death and destruction all around and they are only concerned with their luxury and dividends at the cost of the life and livelihood of common people.”
Meanwhile, Geelani condoled the death of former VC of Kashmir University Hamdi Kashmiri. He said he was literary legend and has a great contribution in promoting and propagating the Urdu language.
He also condoled the demise of mother-in-law of Jamiat-e-Ahlihadith chief Gh. Mohammad Bhat. He condoled bereaved families and prayed for the eternal peace of departed souls and courage to the families to bear this irreparable loss.
Meanwhile, Hurriyat Conference (G) staged a peaceful protest against what they termed as the unabated killings, unchecked brutalities and revengeful attitude towards the political prisoners especially those lodged in far flung jails outside the state.
Leaders who participated include Mohammad Rafiq Uwasi, Molvi Bashir Irfani, Mohammad Yousuf Naqash, Khawaja Firdous Wani, Arshid Aziz, Mubashir Iqbal, Syed Mohammad Shafi, Abdul Hameed Ilahi, Mohammad Maqbool Maghami, Mohammad Rafiq Shah, Syed Imtiyaz Haider, Shakeel Ahmad Bhat, Imtiyaz Ahmad Shah, Rameez Raja, Arshid Hussain Bhat, Ab. Rashid Lone, Mohammad Shafi Mir and large number of people participated in the protest.
Addressing the protestors, pro-freedom leader Mohammad Rafiq Uwasi said that armed forces under the thick cover of the legal impunity have leashed a reign of terror by converting the state in a battle field. “Whatever they want they are free to do, they want to kill on their own choice, ransack the houses and threaten the inmates in the dead of night and nobody in the administration dares to ask them, why they are doing so?” he said
He questioned the world bodies particularly peace loving nations that when people of East Timor and Scotland are given the opportunity to decide their future, why not Kashmiries? “Is our blood thinner than that population, or we don’t qualify to be humans or, we don’t have any right to live a free, peaceful and dignified life? These hard questions need to be answered by the world community,” he said.
Pro-freedom leader said that “our prisoners are treated with hatred and revengeful attitude, denying them the basic requirements guaranteed to them by the domestic and international laws. Their confinement is prolonged by the judicial activism and snail’s pace of court proceedings.”
He said that these inhuman and undemocratic acts can no longer help the oppressor to hold this territory for long and time will come when they will succumb under their own pressure and will be forced to leave this place.(KNO)
